Arthur and I live on a 2 acre farm in Youngsville, La. Over the past 7 years we have raised chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, quail, guinea, and bantams. We have had a lot of experiences raising all of these animals. We have 1 dog and 1 cat and when we go to feed all the animals they follow. It is not uncommon to see my husband run in the house with a baby that needs my undivided attention to stay alive. I get out the blow dryer, show the little baby some TLC and just watch as the baby comes to life in my hands. When I started to hand feed baby birds it gave me that same wonderful feeling. You have this little life that is dependent on you and you watch it grow and come to life right in your hands. When I decided to start raising birds my wonderful husband built me an aviary adjacent to the back of our house. I make birdie bread for my breeders and we have a garden so all of our breeders have fresh vegetables and lots of nourishment. We don't breed year round and when they're not breeding they are just normal birds who just love to play.

We are members of the acadiana bird club located in South Louisiana.
All of our babies are hand-raised by me and my husband. We leave them in the nest with their parents for the first 3 weeks. This is to allow the parent birds to feed their young, because they can provide their babies with natural gut bacterias, immunities, and enzymes that we breeders cannot duplicate. This helps develop healthy babies. Then we remove them for hand-feeding, so each baby bird is given individual attention and lots of tender loving care. This ensures a sweet loving, affectionate, well adjusted, happy youngster that will be a delight to their owners.
HOW WE ACTUALLY GOT STARTED
In 2006 my daughter Shannon asked for a lovebird for Christmas and the only one we could find at the time was only 5 days old and his mother had thrown him off the nest. The lady put him in a paper bag and we brought Tiki-bird home.
